Since 2014, a new charter known as Global Charter has been adopted at the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA).
Resulting from a review of practices and performances in the chemical industry since the mid-1980s, this charter draws inspiration from the recommendations of stakeholders worldwide. It goes far beyond the original elements of 1985 by emphasizing new challenges: public dialogue on sustainable development, health, transparency, and international coherence.
The International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA) pursues, through this charter, actions consistent with the environmental principles of the UN Global Compact.
The six key elements:
Develop a corporate culture that proactively supports safe management of chemical products.
Protect people and the environment through continuous improvement of performance (EHS) and process safety.
Strengthen management systems by participating in the development of risk-based and life-cycle legislation.
Act with our business partners to promote the safe management of chemical products.
Engage stakeholders, respond to their concerns, and communicate clearly about our performance.
Contribute to sustainable development through innovation and solutions addressing societal challenges.
